Dove

She has shot down that dove again
Afraid of the reality of love again

Wrestling with inner demons that bring pain
Can't wash away the sins that stain
The world may never be the same

She shot it down, it’s falling and wounded
Bleeding all around, she has shot the dove

 Love your prince
 He will not wait forever
He has the heart to love and be loved
 Ready for the new endeavor

 She has shot the dove

 Know what you want
And spare the poor prince, he was
Only a victim of happiness and dreams
 A hollowed gift it seems

 Beauty was the dove
 Sin was the love

 She has shot the dove

You have proved to him that he was meant
To rule a kingdom alone with his own
 Hands, blood and bones

 The dove was shot down
Falling, dying with tears of blood
 She has shot the dove

But don’t you dare cry when he has reached death
Gasping desperately for its last breath
For he was a victim of happiness and dreams
Where no matter where you go, everyone seems
 To be suspects of love

 She has shot the dove

I have been writing poetry since a teenager but did not have the courage to really show it off. It wasn't until I had some tools as I battled depression and mental illness. They are still a part of me, which you will see for yourself. My writing is dark and raw.
