Darkness

 Hello darkness, hello fear
I get warmer when you are near

 Hello depression, hello my friend
Why do you torment my mind again?

 I don’t want you
But this is all that I know
And without any change I won't grow
And all your thoughts become true

 You're the unwelcome guest
 Who initially left everyone impressed
Who then stays too long and won’t leave
Feeding us lies too absurd to believe
But still manages to reel some of us in

No one needs you yet you exist
No one wants you yet you persist
Everyone knows you but they forget
How powerful our hopeful fist can be

I have been writing poetry since a teenager but did not have the courage to really show it off. It wasn't until I had some tools as I battled depression and mental illness. They are still a part of me, which you will see for yourself. My writing is dark and raw.
